What just happened here?
I’m not sure what to make of my incredibly good media fortune of late, e.g., not one but two consecutive shout-outs by the state newspaper’s editorial board, which is not always philosophically aligned with the views of my organization. This is not normal. On the one hand, my hyper-introverted nerves are shot. On the other, I recognize that a lot of organizations would (and do) pay good money for that kind of coverage — and it certainly could have turned out worse (dare I speak too soon?). As a former press secretary, I know I would have killed for it back in the great Linder-Barr Battle of ’02 (note: we still won).
So please excuse me while I take a deep breath of relief and gratitude for a nanosecond, after sticking my neck out and taking that long, lonely walk out of the Governor’s mansion last week.
Meanwhile, my mom wants to know what an “op-ed” is. It’s a good thing, mom. It’s very good.
At least, until someone knocks me off of my high horse. Any second now… ; )
Ok, breath over. Off to work.
